Access to Elsevier journals
After several months of negotiations, the Couperin consortium in charge of negotiating and the French Agence Bibliographique de l’Enseignement Supérieur in charge of purchases found an agreement with publishing house Elsevier regarding subscription to the Freedom collection for a national License. Over 2300 scientific journals published by Elsevier, 1800 titles still active in 2014, can be consulted on Science Direct. For the majority of titles, all years are represented and accessible. This agreement is valid for the years 2014-2018 and covers all HE institutions as well as many public hospitals and public agencies and the Bibliothèque nationale de France. For more information (in French), read the Communiqué de Couperin.
This agreement (soon to be formally signed) has already led to many reactions on the French social networks:
ISTEX : new online resources for the whole ESR community
Four national licenses have just been signed with publishing houses Brill, RSC, Nature and Elsevier, within the framework ISTEX. The resources in question had been identified by the national survey on the needs of research communities. Negotiations took place for several months, led by ABES and this is now a result for all the efforts. The official communiqué can be found here and further information can be read on the French website for National licenses.
Jacques Neveu, French statistician and probabilist, has donated his library of mathematical books to CIRM. The 150 items will soon be added to our collections.
Scientific publications : Episciences project
« Episciences-Maths » is a project carried out by Institut Fourier, UMR5582 CNRS and Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble), as part of the global Episciences.org project.
The main idea is that of a technical platform for peer-reviewing, i.e enabling the creation of "epi-journals" or free access electronic journals, storing articles left on open archives such as HAL or arXiv, and non-otherwise published.
Online access to litterature on mathematics, mainly published in Europe, as a longstanding numerical stock maintained by a network of institutions.
